☐ Complete DMV-approved pre-licensing education and get your completion certificate
☐ Form your business (LLC or corporation recommended), obtain your EIN, and open a business bank account
☐ Secure a compliant location -- zoning, display area, office, signage -- or confirm an office-based wholesale setup
☐ Obtain your $50,000 dealer bond and required insurance coverages
☐ Assemble and submit your DMV application package with photos and documents

☐ Don't sign a lease before confirming zoning allows vehicle sales at that location
☐ Don't use temporary banners -- signage must be permanent
☐ Make sure your business name matches exactly across your entity, application forms, bond, insurance, and signage
☐ Don't submit an incomplete application packet or missing photos
☐ Don't wait until the last minute to place your bond and insurance
☐ Set up your record-keeping system before inspection, not after
